INDOCHINA - BURMA
The rigid hostility of numerous ethnicities towards central power!
MYANMAR - BURMA One of the most exciting Asian countries that has opened its gates to D. world recently. "Anachronistic image" of a mythical and fairy-tale sunrise, richly decorated with gold. The amazing Pagoda Sveendagon is a golden giant nestled in the gentle tropical vegetation that dominates the capital of Giankon. Ecstatic Bozzians (100,000 across the country) wrapped in their orange mantles gaze at the land at the crossroads of Russian, Chinese American aspirations that have remained a mythical. SANGRILA magically hanging over a world moving at speed and often gives the image of a silent humility. The silent magnificence of the temples of BAGAN and the picturesque nature of INLE Lake. The characteristics of the sweetness and hardness typical of the Burmese breed are re-found in the tradition of long-necked women, the KAMILOPARDAL women, who live in the PALAUNK region between China and the Burmese highlands. For centuries, these women wear heavy bronze rings on the throat that deform and elongate the neck, a custom that dates back to ancient times. SAN AND ORE PRODUCTION The mountains, almost everywhere in northern Burma, covered by the wild jungle and virtually inaccessible to the lack of communication channels, always protected a number of tribes that, while they all originated from the same family, retained their special characteristics to be today an extremely diverse ethnic mosaic. The San area, located between China, Laos and Thailand, is but a small part of Burma. This breed has the characteristic features of fatalism and calm devotion to everyday agricultural activities that have not changed at all from past centuries. Opium really holds a special position in agriculture. Where rice can not be grown for more than two years, the poppy can be profitable for fifteen or twenty years. Especially in eastern Burma, towards the Chinese border, the poppy grows abundant with the sun, shade and moisture, and a large part of the population deals with its cultivation. The villagers carve the closed poppy flowers with a tiny pointed iron. It then slowly descends a dense liquid that gathers it in metal cans. In the jar, the liquid is blackened and dried. It has the appearance of old tar. Opium reaches the villages from the fields and becomes the wealth of the land. THE PERFORMANCE OF WOMAN PANDAUGH (The Woman - Ziraffe) From the women of the tribes that live in the hills a special curiosity is caused by the women of Pantaung, who wear around their neck and their knuckles rings made of bronze coils having a total weight of twenty-five pounds. From their childhood, the girls' neck is held constantly stretched and they are able to withstand up to five rings until they reach adulthood, reaching the limit of twenty or twenty-five rings. Though loaded with all this weight, women dig in the fields, carry water for the home and walk long distances. The fashion of the collar does not seem to damage the health of these women and many of them reach an older age after have spawned eight and ten children. Pantaung, who are essentially engaged in agriculture, are mostly skilful cotton growers. The Pantaung dances are accompanied by the sounds of cymbals and gong, and the movements, defined as by some dyskinesia that impose on women the necklaces, are limited to small laterals steps and a slight ripple. BRE WITH THE BLACK TEETH To the north of the territory where the Pantaung live live the Brere. They wear trousers with white and red stripes, while a kind of raw cotton bedding serves as a coat. The women wear bronze spiral springs wrapped from the ankle to the knee and above it to the middle of the thigh. Around the neck large rings of the metal itself and huge cylinders passed through the ear lobes complete the apse. Men and women dye their teeth black using special leaves mixed with citrus juice for this purpose. Painting is for Brews, a whole ceremony. All the children of the village who have reached the age of 10 are led by the sunset into an isolated small forest and during a whole night they have to chew the special leaves by keeping their eyes closed. It is believed that if during the night ceremony the children open their eyes, their teeth get the color of the first thing that will meet their eyes !!! That's why the ceremony takes place in the jungle and not in the village. KAREN CHARACTERISTICS IIn the entire Burmese population, Karen is placed, after the Burmese and the San. Karen, distinguished in "white" and "red", live in the area between the Sitang and Salouen rivers. Red Karen wear trousers up to the knee, holding them around their waist with a leather belt. Women wear a short red skirt and necklaces wrap around necklaces of colored pearls. Old, the Karen Red never came without a sword. Today, weapons are used only when there is a dead man in the village and they shoot to expel the dead man's spirit because his presence is malicious. Red Karen are great drinkers. |
